Working-day definitions and date wording
If section 54 of the Legislation Act applies, use words such as “after”, “on” and “before” to decide whether to count the start and end dates.

- Calendar-day counts include weekends and public holidays. Choose working days to leave them out.

- You can count or leave out the start and end dates separately.

Trial periods use calendar days. Notice follows the agreement. Public-holiday entitlements depend on the employee's normal work pattern.
Check the start date for each stage
In Sequential mode, each stage starts from the previous stage's end date. If the next stage starts from a different event, calculate it separately using that event's date.

Holiday calendars and shutdown choices
NZ public holidays and substitute dates are excluded from working-day counts automatically. Regional anniversary days and summer shutdowns are separate selections.
Property and resource consent deadlines
For a property settlement, exclude the local anniversary day only if required by the signed agreement. For a statutory RMA count, leave regional anniversary days unselected.
